Lake Style Living in Pines Lake New Jersey

Wow!  Wayne, New Jersey has so much to offer, including 3 lake communities.  Communities within communities as I like to call them!

Today's highlight is Pines Lake

Pines Lake is a man made lake approximately 1.5 miles long and .5 miles wide.   Pines Lake started as a vacation community in the 1920's.  The Lenni-Lenape lived in this area, and some say that there is signs of the Lenni-Lenape in the undeveloped areas around Pines Lake.

This lake community has so much to offer.  "Pines Lakers" enjoy hiking, boating, fishing (catch and release), swimming, tennis and many activities and programs sponsored by the Pines Lake Association.  Donna McKeon, a 24 year resident of Pines Lake, states,  "Pines Lake is a great place to raise a family with lots to do in the summer on the lake.  It is a community oriented place to live, and it is nice having Pines Lake Elementary School in the neighborhood." There you have it folks, straight from a local "Pines Laker."

Pines Lake is also host to the Laurelwood Arboretum, and in my opinion, Wayne's best kept secret. Laurelwood is a 30 acre property with trails, gardens, wildlife, 2 ponds, streams and hundreds of species of plants and trees.  Laurelwood was once a commercial nursery and is now a public park donated to the township by Dorothy and John Knippenberg.  It is maintained through the Township of Wayne and the Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum, Inc. (FOLA).  I encourage you to check it out. You will not be disappointed.

Take a quick photo tour with me "around the lake".  These are some photos I took yesterday. There are still the remnants of winter hanging around...hurry up spring...

For those runners out there, check out these stats.

Pines Lake, a beautiful place to live and play...
